Getting Started

Your first song

Songs are the heart of SongChart. Each song has a title, key, tempo, and one or more sections — like verses, choruses, or bridges — each containing chords and lyrics.

Navigate to Songs

From the dashboard sidebar, click Songs. This shows all songs in your current workspace. If you're new, the list will be empty.

Click the New Song button in the top right to open the song editor.

Fill in the basics

Start with the song's core details.

Title

The name of the song. Required.

Key

The original key of the song (e.g. G, Eb, F#m). SongChart uses this as the reference key for Nashville Number System display.

Tempo

Beats per minute. Optional but useful for your team.

Add sections

A song is made up of sections — each one has a name and contains lines of chords and lyrics.

Common section names include Verse, Chorus, Bridge, Intro, and Outro. Click Add section to create one, then enter the chords and lyrics for each line.

Each line has a chord row (top) and a lyric row (bottom). Place chords above the syllables they fall on — SongChart will render the chart with proper alignment.

Nashville Number System
SongChart can display chords as Nashville numbers (1, 4, 5…) instead of letter names. The key you set on the song determines the number mapping.

Save your song

Changes save automatically as you type. You can also click Save in the toolbar at any time. Once saved, the song appears in your Songs list and can be added to setlists.
