Visibility & sharing

Song visibility controls who can see a song. You set visibility when creating a song and can change it later from the song's edit menu.

Visibility levels

Private

Only you can see the song. This is the default for personal songs. Team songs can also be set to private — they're owned by the team but only visible to you.

Team

All members of the team can view the song. Only available for team-owned songs.

Public

Any signed-in SongChart user can see the song — not just team members. This is scoped to authenticated users; songs are not accessible without an account.

Personal songs and visibility

Personal songs (songs not owned by a team) are always private by default. If your profile is public, you can set individual personal songs to Public — they'll appear on your public profile and be discoverable by other signed-in users.

Who can edit a song?

Visibility controls who can see a song, not who can edit it. Editing is controlled separately:

Owner — always has full edit access.

Collaborators — users you've explicitly added as collaborators can edit the song, even if it's private.

Team members — for team songs, editing permissions are governed by the member's team role.

Changing visibility

Open the song, then click the Edit button to open the song details. Update the Visibility field and save. Changes take effect immediately.
